Rattray Park was inaugurated on 20 th June 2015 by President John Mahama, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Kumasi Mayor. To rejuvenate Kumasi’s identity as the "Garden City of Africa".
It is named in honor of Captain Robert Sutherland Rattray, a distinguished early 20th-century anthropologist who deeply engaged with Ashanti culture.

Rattray Park is a modern urban sanctuary featuring:
- An artistic dancing fountain; the first in Ghana
- A serene artificial lake and walking paths
