Established in 1993, with boundaries finalized in September 1999, Kyabobo National Park safeguards a unique ecosystem in the Oti Region (formerly part of Volta) near the Togo border.

Covering approximately 360 km², it includes Ghana’s second‑highest mountain, Mount Dzebobo (approx. 873 m), with panoramic views of Lake Volta.

Vegetation spans the transition zone between dry semi-deciduous forest and savanna, hosting the endangered endemic tree Talbotiella gendtii.

Fauna includes African elephants, leopards, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, aardvark, baboons, duikers, bushbuck and the emblematic rock hyrax.

The park also shelters over 500 butterfly species and 235 bird species, making it a designated Important Bird Area

Explore up to seven hiking trails and two mountain‑biking routes, including the popular Breast Mountains ridge trail leading to breathtaking viewpoints.

Notable experiences include:

·       A 4‑hour trek to Laboum Waterfall, with trekking to upper falls nearby

·       Visits to shrines and sacred groves around Koue River

·       Guided cultural exchanges with local communities like the Akyode in remote villages

Kyabobo was awarded "Tourist Attraction Site" and "Site Guide of the Year 2024" at the Ghana Tourism Awards for its community-based tourism efforts and environmental stewardship.

Park management continues anti-poaching patrols and collaborates with local schools and communities through education and livelihood initiatives like beekeeping and conservation outreach.
